The State of DevOps 2023 Report and Next Steps for Your Organization

Big thanks to ray of sunshine Nathen Harvey, Developer Advocate at DORA and Google Cloud, for joining the Opsera team on a joint webinar about the latest State of DevOps Report.

In the webinar, we covered this year’s findings, how the report differed from last year, and how to measure DORA’s core 4 key metrics at your own organization with Opsera DevOps Platform’s Unified Insights.

So What’s Next?

One of the major questions from the community is: “Now that we know what to measure, how do we get started?”

Why not give Opsera’s Unified Insights a try? Unified Insights collects data from all of your CI/CD pipelines and code commits to calculate the DORA core 4 metrics (among dozens of other KPIs). We then provide clear dashboards and reports that you can use to track your progress over time and identify areas for improvement for your software teams.

Once you have some data, you can start using Opsera to improve your DevOps performance. For example, you can use the dashboards and reports to:

  • Identify bottlenecks in your deployment process.
  • Reduce the number of failed deployments
  • Improve your recovery time by identifying common failure points
  • Track your progress over time and see how your DevOps performance is improving

Here are some specific tips for using Unified Insights to improve your DevOps performance:

  • Use the deployment frequency dashboard to identify teams that are deploying less often than others. These teams may be struggling with their deployment process, or they may not be releasing new code as often as they could.
  • Use the lead time dashboard to identify teams that have a long lead time for changes. These teams may need to streamline their development and deployment process.
  • Use the change failure rate dashboard to identify teams that have a high percentage of failed deployments. These teams may need to improve their testing process, or they may need to adopt more reliable deployment practices.
  • Use the MTTR dashboard to identify teams that have a long MTTR. These teams may need to improve their incident response process, or they may need to invest in more monitoring and observability tools.

Opsera is a powerful platform that can help you improve your DevOps performance. By using Unified Insights dashboards, reports, and features, you can quickly get started to identify bottlenecks, reduce the number of failed deployments, improve your recovery time, and track your progress over time.
